Qcd, Chiral Random Matrix Theory and Integrability

چکیده
1. Summary Random Matrix Theory has been a unifying approach in physics and mathematics. In these lectures we discuss applications of Random Matrix Theory to QCD and emphasize underlying integrable structures. In the first lecture we give an overview of QCD, its low-energy limit and the microscopic limit of the Dirac spectrum which, as we will see in the second lecture, can be described by chiral Random Matrix Theory. The main topic of the third lecture is the recent developments on the relation between the QCD partition function and integrable hierarchies (in our case the Toda lattice hierarchy). This is an efficient way to obtain the QCD Dirac spectrum from the low energy limit of the QCD partition function. Finally, we will discuss the QCD Dirac spectrum at nonzero chemical potential. We will show that the microscopic spectral density is given by the replica limit of the Toda lattice equation. Recent results by Osborn on the Dirac spectrum of full QCD will be discussed.

Predictions of Chiral Random Matrix Theory and Lattice Qcd Results
Chiral random matrix theory makes very detailed predictions for the spectral correlations of the QCD Dirac operator, both in the bulk of the spectrum and near zero virtuality. These predictions have been successfully tested in lattice QCD simulations by several groups. Moreover, the domain of validity of random matrix theory has been predicted theoretically and identified in lattice data. In th...

In this lecture we review recent lattice QCD studies of the statistical properties of the eigenvalues of the QCD Dirac operator. We find that the fluctuations of the smallest Dirac eigenvalues are described by chiral Random Matrix Theories with the global symmetries of the QCD partition function. Deviations from chiral Random Matrix Theory beyond the Thouless energy can be understood analytical...
متن کاملChiral Random Matrix Theory and the Spectrum of the Dirac Operator Zero Virtuality
We study the spectrum of the QCD Dirac operator near zero virtuality. We argue that it can be described by a random matrix theory with the chiral structure of QCD. In the large N limit, this model reduces to the low energy limit of the QCD partition function put forward by Leutwyler and Smilga. We conjecture that the microscopic limit of its spectral density is universal and reproduces that of ...

The spectrum of the QCD Dirac operator and chiral random matrix theory: the threefold way. Abstract We argue that the spectrum of the QCD Dirac operator near zero virtuality can be described by random matrix theory. As in the case of classical random matrix ensembles of Dyson we have three different cases: the chiral orthogonal ensemble (chGOE), the chiral unitary ensemble (chGUE) and the chira...
متن کاملOn the Spectrum of the Qcd Dirac Operator
In this lecture we argue that the fluctuations of Dirac eigenvalues on the finest scale, i.e. on the scale of the average level spacing do not depend on the underlying dynamics and can be obtained from a chiral random matrix theory with the same low energy effective theory. We present three pieces of evidence supporting that such microscopic correlations of lattice QCD Dirac spectra are given b...
